Our Story
About Us
We met over a cup of coffee in Franklin, Tennessee in April 2013, brought together by mutual friends so we could each have some hometown company at DePaul University in the coming fall. Both of us were determined to remain friends and nothing more – each excited to explore new horizons in a new city. After just a couple of weeks at school, it began to become clear that “just friends and nothing more” wasn’t going to work.
In early October, a “not date” took us from dinner in Chicago’s north side all the way downtown to Navy Pier, where we walked, laughed, and ignored the cold as long as we could to avoid saying goodnight.
After four years of learning more and more about each other and of the new city we were calling home, we moved back to Nashville, Tennessee for the summer. Olivia then went to London for graduate school, and Michael to Vanderbilt shortly after. Once reunited and settled for a bit, we journeyed back to Lake Michigan’s familiar shoreline. Some clumsy words were said, a ring was offered, and the next chapter began.
In the time since we first met, we’ve traveled together to many different cities and countries, often spending our time much like that first evening together in Chicago and as we plan to spend our lives together – walking, laughing, and always learning more about each other.
We are so grateful to each of you for the role you have played in our lives as individuals and as partners. We cannot wait to celebrate with you all!
